Project team starts to review literature on performance measurement

The project team is preparing a comprehensive review of the international literature on performance measurement in mental health and addictions service systems. This review will be used to spark discussion of how we think about “performance” in services in Ontario, when we consult with stakeholders in early 2016.

Over the winter, the team is aiming to connect with service providers, service users, and health planners to inform the development of a comprehensive performance measurement framework – one that fully captures performance as it is defined in the literature and understood by provincial stakeholders.

While finalizing the strategy for the literature review, team members have been meeting regularly with researchers and policy planners at the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, who are engaged in parallel efforts to develop performance indicators.
