Men and women working in the front-lines as student support professionals provide support to students experiencing emotional, mental and physical difficulties.

Providing this level of constant care is demanding and stressful and can encroach upon the personal life of the professional counsellor or therapist if the updating of adequate support measures is ignored. The webinar covers burnout and stress for front-line staff in the postsecondary mental health sector, and various coping strategies.

Key learnings:

  • Understanding the Stress Management Structure
  • Learning about the different kinds of stress, the “good, the bad and the ugly”
  • What constitutes a Critical Incident?
  • Looking at the ‘ins & outs’ of defusing and debriefing
  • Factors affecting stress reactions
  • Rest and Recovery

The presenter:

Jason Carey, Ph.D. Good2Talk Counselling Manager and ASSIST Trainer.
