Why gender-inclusive language matters for health equity

The Health Equity Impact Assessment (HEIA) Community of Interest will be hosting a webinar, "Why Gender Inclusive Language Matters for Health Equity."

Date: Wednesday, March 28, 2018
Time: 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM EDT

This webinar will explain key concepts of gender inclusivity and gender inclusive language and will provide an overview of the importance of gender inclusivity in health care.

Health Quality Ontario (HQO) recognizes the importance of supporting gender inclusivity in healthcare settings and, as a result, is developing internal best practice guidelines regarding gender-inclusive language. Its initiative builds on recent work by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and the Canadian Association of Midwives.

This webinar is relevant for developing potential mitigation strategies when using the HEIA tool. The event is suitable for people who have a basic understanding of HEIA. If you are new to HEIA, this short video provides an introduction.
