Schizophrenia Society of Ontario's 2019 scholarships: Applications are open

The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) is accepting applications for our scholarship program - now in its 16th year. It is one of Canada's only bursary programs dedicated to funding educational opportunities for people affected by schizophrenia or psychosis.

The deadline for the 2019/2020 scholarship applications is August 6, 2019.

To date, SSO has supported more than 100 students with bursaries totalling over $250,000. SSO offers the following scholarships each year to eligible applicants:

  • Schizophrenia Society of OntarioScholarship: For individuals living with schizophrenia or psychosis. Funded by individual designated donations.
  • Say Yes to Me Scholarship: For individuals living with schizophrenia. Funded by Otsuka-Lundbeck.
  • Klara Boadway Memorial Scholarship: For young women living with schizophrenia or psychosis who are pursuing an education in the health, social sciences or social services fields. Funded by Richard Boadway in memory of his daughter, Klara.

 

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or psychosis
  • Be involved in a recovery plan
  • Intend to pursue their studies within the 2019/2020 school year

 

Applications are available on SSO's website. You may submit your completed application by mail, email or fax on or before the posted due date.
