New Guidelines from CRISM and HQO for the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder

This quality standard addresses care for people 16 years of age and older (including those who are pregnant) who have or are suspected of   having opioid use disorder. The scope of this quality standard applies to all services and care settings, including long-term care homes, mental health settings, remote nursing stations, and correctional facilities, in all geographic regions of the province. Click image to view HQO's Opioid Use Disorder Care for People 16 Years of Age and Older or click here to be directed to HQO's resource page.

CRISM developed the first Canadian guideline for managing opioid use disorders. The guideline lays out the   optimal strategies for the treatment of opioid addiction and recommends opioid agonist treatment with buprenorphine-naloxone as the preferred first-line treatment.
